Week 9: Rams Dominate the Giants
Rams’ Jared Goff match fellow NFC draftmate Carson Wentz with four touchdowns and 51 points of offense
With no players on the injury report and coming off a bye week, the Los Angeles Rams were more than ready for the New York Giants. The Rams blew them out, 51–17, in which quarterback Jared Goff aired it out for 311 passing yards on just 14 completions.
Big Things Poppin’ – The Rams’ offense was on full display. Goff made completions to five receivers for 20+ yards which is remarkable when you consider where their offense was in 2016.
Already in Week 9, the Rams have matched their total points scored from last season. Highlight of the day was when the Rams converted a 3rd-and-33 into a 52-yard touchdown off a screen play to Robert Woods. Not sure if we should give more credit to the Rams’ offense or the Giants’ lack of urgency on defense — it wasn’t the only blunder of the game either.
Goff was the first pick in the 2016 NFL draft while the Eagles nabbed Carson Wentz second. While it seemed early on Wentz was the better choice after Goff struggled his rookie season, both quarterbacks are off to convincing starts. Who knows, maybe we’ll see the Rams and Eagles face each other in the NFC Championship game?
I kept it brief because there isn’t much to say. The Giants seemingly gave up midway into the game as they were outscored 24–7 along with several miscues; they had a punt blocked and allowed a 70-touchdown before half time.
